FRIDAY,  05-FEB-2010

The first of the two low pressure systems, we talked about in yesterdays forecast, has arrived. Most woke up to either moderate snow in the mountains or light rain in the valleys. Mammoth received 7 inches overnight with more on the way. A continuation of light precipitation today then the second system moves in late tonight into Saturday. This one has a little more “punch” to it, with colder air and a better chance of moderate to heavy snowfall in the mountains. Even the Owens Valley could see some light snow on the floor from this system. This system moves eastward on Sunday with ridging building in late Sunday into Monday. Mammoth could see as much as 3 – 4 feet of new snow by late Sunday. The Owens Valley will see drier conditions on Monday, but Mono County will we left with lingering showers. Another Low pressure system is progged to move into our forecast area Tuesday, with another round of rain and snow. Updates to follow right here on easternsierraforecast.com.
