MONDAY 05-MAR-2012

The upper ridge will hold today, then move east on Tuesday in response to a cold upper low out of the Gulf of Alaska. That low will have little in the way of precipitation, but makes up for it with cool temps and strong winds. A High Wind Watch is in effect from Tuesday morning to late Tuesday night for the Owens Valley. A Wind Advisory is in effect for Mono County from 10 pm this evening until 4 pm Tuesday. With this, there is a chance of snow in the upper elevations Tuesday and a slight chance of rain in the Owens Valley on Tuesday as well. That cold system slowly moves east on Wednesday, with high pressure building in on Thursday. Thus warming temperatures into the weekend.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Partly to mostly sunny then partly cloudy in the evening. Highs around 68 – 73 and lows 38 – 43. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph G 25 tonight.
Tuesday: 20% chance of rain showers and windy. Highs 55 – 60 and lows 29 – 34. Winds W 20 – 30 mph G 50.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

Today: Mostly sunny then partly cloudy tonight. Highs around 52 and lows 31. Winds SW 10 – 20 mph G 35 tonight.
Tuesday: 50% chance of snow showers then a 20% chance in the evening.  Highs 34 and lows 11. Winds W 25 mph G 45.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

Today: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy tonight. Highs 54 – 59 and lows 27 – 32. Winds SW 15 – 25 mph G 45 tonight.
Tuesday: Snow likely with a slight chance in the evening. Highs 35 – 38 and lows 7 – 17. Winds W 20 – 30 mph G 55.
