“Giving you the reasons why Eastern Sierra weather happens.”
THURSDAY May 31, 2012
Well the last day of May 2012 sees high pressure continuing to build in over the state through Friday. This will result in mostly clear skies and climbing temperatures. I expect some cumulus build up over the Crest each afternoon. A weak shortwave will ride the ridge on Friday bringing the chance of t-storms Friday afternoon. The ridge will begin to slide eastward over the weekend as an area of low pressure forms off the coast. This will allow temps to start edging back down Saturday and Sunday.
FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:
Today: Mostly sunny. Highs 93 and lows 57. Winds SE 5 mph.
Friday: Sunny. Highs 95 and lows 60. Winds SE 5 – 8 mph.
FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:
Today: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy. Highs 70 and lows 46. Winds NE 5 mph.
Friday: 30% chance of afternoon t-storms. Highs 73 and lows 47. Winds NE 5- 10 mph.
FOR MONO COUNTY:
Today: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy. Highs 76 – 86 and lows 39 – 49. Winds NE 10 mph.
Friday: A chance of afternoon and evening showers and t-storms. Highs 80 – 90 and lows 40 – 50. Winds W 10 – 15 mph.
