“Giving you the reasons why Eastern Sierra weather happens.”
SATURDAY August 11, 2012
Plenty of moisture (mixed with heat) flowed into the Southern Sierra yesterday to bring about a good bout of thunderstorms. Rain, lightening and thunder moved in and some areas saw temps drop 30 degrees from my forecast high. An inverted trough over N. Mexico was responsible for pumping additional juice into our forecast area. We can expect more of the same today as well. Otherwise, high pressure will bring another hot day to the district (cloud cover will mediate those high temps). Unfortunately that strong high looks to be with us all this week, as toughing off the West Coast will not be enough to push it east. I do however expect slight cooling (a few degrees towards mid week).
