FORECAST: The Owens Valley, Mammoth and Mono County

THURSDAY April 19, 2012

Upper ridge strengthens today, bringing to the district a noticeable warming trend thru the weekend. Looking at some 10 degrees above mid April norms by Saturday/Sunday. Increasing CAPES (Convective Available Potential Energy) and instability will bring a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms along the Crest, Friday and Saturday. Sunday the ridge axis shifts east, all but eliminating any T-Storm activity.

FOR THE OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Sunny. Highs 76 – 81 and lows 52 – 57. Winds N 10 – 15 mph.
Friday: Sunny.  Highs 82 – 87 and lows 57 – 62. Winds NE 10 mph.

FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES:

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs 62 and lows 37. Winds N 5 mph.
Friday: 20% chance of afternoon and evening t-storms. Highs 66 and lows 41. Winds E 5 mph.

FOR MONO COUNTY:

Today: Mainly clear remaining that way overnight. Highs 63 – 68 and lows 33 – 38. Winds NW 10 mph.
Friday: Sunny becoming partly cloudy a slight chance of afternoon and evening t-storms. Highs 68  – 73 and lows 36 – 41. Winds NW 10 mph.
